The Smartflow dry break coupling was designed to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable fluid transfer in aggressive, highly critical environments. Connection and disconnection are performed without spills. The design reduces the number of parts and eliminates the need for additional valves, saving time and reducing operating costs. The line meets the demands of Oil & Gas, petrochemical, Food & Beverage, road and rail transport, marine operations and aviation. Typical applications include AdBlue distribution, road and rail tankers, offshore operations, bunkering and IBC filling.
Thanks to the 5:1 safety factor, the Smartflow family allows customers to choose aluminum units as a lighter and more cost-effective alternative to stainless steel versions in higher-pressure applications.
Smartflow couplings are interchangeable with products from other manufacturers according to TEAM SPEC and STANAG 3756 standards, simplifying fleet retrofit and standardization processes.
The couplings are available in sizes ranging from 1” to 4”. Smaller sizes can be operated manually, while larger sizes require higher torque for connection and disconnection.
Single or double handles facilitate operation in high-force applications.
The actuation system uses a trigger mechanism activated when connecting the hose side (female coupling) to the tank side (male adapter). When rotated clockwise, the coupling locks and releases the flow. Counterclockwise rotation unlocks the coupling and stops the flow with spill-free operation.
This operating method reduces contamination risks and minimizes operator exposure to fluids.
M. Shimizu provides technical support, material specification assistance, and custom adaptations with special heads according to customer requirements.
We can assist in selecting materials, seal types, and dimensions for each application. We also offer standards compatibility verification and retrofit support for replacement with Smartflow couplings.
