A torque multiplier uses planetary gears to increase the torque applied by the operator. The output torque is calculated from the input torque, gear ratio, and system efficiency, allowing high torque to be applied with better control and less physical effort. It is widely used in heavy-duty bolting applications across petrochemical, power generation, mining, and other industrial environments where precision and operator safety are critical.
A torque multiplier is a device that allows a specific torque to be applied through the action of one or more stages of a planetary gear train. Each stage increases the applied torque by the factor corresponding to the transmission ratio.
The operator manually applies a known torque to the multiplier input through a torque wrench and, through the action of the multiplier transmission ratio, the output torque corresponds to the torque applied by the operator multiplied by the factor, already considering the efficiency of the mechanism.
This system enables high torque values to be achieved with less operator effort and greater safety. It is recommended for industrial maintenance, heavy assembly, trucks, buses, agricultural machinery and other applications where high controlled torque is required.
The reaction arm absorbs the reaction generated during operation, helping the operator apply torque in a controlled, repeatable and ergonomic way.
