The automatic safety lock system is energy based.
They allow the operator to move the tool or object up or down with minimal effort. Depending on the spring adjustment, the object will remain in a specific position or retract when no force is being applied.
With spiral grooves on a tapered drum, the bend radius increases until it matches the mechanical force determined by the spring. This condition neutralizes the forces and provides balance.
